Thetis island is among the many Gulf Islands lying between Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia. The population is 350 and it has three Christian camps, so religion is a strong presence in the island. Peter and I took a short bus ride from Duncan to Chemainus with our bikes and met Peter's friend Paul, by the ferry to cross over to the island, only about 20 minutes away. We wanted to bike ride around the island and get to the shore by the Strait of Georgia where Peter knew a great blackberry field. The day was beautiful, the ride challenging for me at times and the little beach at the end of road, gorgeous. After gorging ourselves on blackberries we road back, had sushi and took the bus back to Duncan.
